Areas of work
Ian has practised a mix of commercial law and tax planning
since joining Goodman Derrick in 1985. His background
was in private client, tax and overseas trusts the previous
14 years at Withers where he was articled and qualified.
The fields of work are diverse; from fine art to country
estates. The unifying factor is a deep understanding
of the nature of the business or undertaking and a prompt
response to current legal needs. A team player, cross
departmental work is frequent, from litigation in the
UK and overseas to property finance and acquisition.
He acts for high net worth individuals as well as private
companies.
Education
Ian was educated at Leeds Grammar School and graduated
in law from Oxford in 1970. He has continued further
education: a diploma in art history and now studying
Biblical Hebrew at Birkbeck College.
