Career
Maria has a Law Degree in Russian Law from the Moscow State Law Academy and had qualified as a Russian lawyer in 1999. She started her career as a paralegal in the Moscow Representative office of an American law firm Squire, Sanders and Dempsey and then moved on to work for chambers with the Moscow Bar where she was representing private and commercial clients and took a number of cases all the way to the Supreme Court of Russia.
Maria has substantive experience in advising private clients on various matters and had specialised in tax advice and cross-border tax structures for high net worth individuals. She moved to London in 2003 and worked for the last five years as a consultant to a number of UK law firms in litigation concerning Russian clients. Maria is now a part-time trainee solicitor at Goodman Derrick while studying for her GDL at BPP Law School.
Interests
Maria is a keen skier and snowboarder, enjoys travelling and reading historical memoirs in her spare time. |
