Areas of work
Philip specialises in corporate finance, mergers and
acquisitions, and banking. Over the years he has acted
for and advised many listed public companies as well
as private companies and businesses. His expertise includes
dealing with new listings, take-overs, demergers, rights
issues and other secondary fund raisings for listed
companies, and also providing a full service advice
for private companies and businesses. He acts for several
UK banks in relation to mainstream lending, but particularly
in relation to structured finance.
Education and career
Philip read law at Bristol University; he then joined
Lawrence Graham as a trainee in 1967 and qualified as
a solicitor in 1969. Having spent five years at Clifford-Turner
he created Edward Lewis & Co as a new firm in London
in 1979. After sixteen years as senior partner of Edward
Lewis, during which time the firm had grown to 150 staff
including 50 lawyers, he decided to return to mainstream
client work and joined Goodman Derrick as a partner
in 1996.
