Tim Langton
Senior Partner
Specialisation: Commercial Litigation and Family Law
Areas of work:
Tim has combined a practice in both commercial litigation and family law since his qualification in 1978.
Within commercial litigation he has experience of acting in a wide variety of claims brought against professional advisers including solicitors, accountants, independent financial advisers, valuers and surveyors. He has also acted in numerous contractual disputes arising from the breakdown of commercial relationships as well as in insolvency and director disqualifications actions. Tim represented the Appellant party in the leading insolvency case of Phillips and others v Brewin Dolphin and others in the House of Lords.
Tim’s family practice is similarly varied. He has acted for many clients both of high net worth and more modest means in helping to resolve ancillary relief claims, and disputes concerning children, arising from the breakdown of marriages and civil partnerships. Tim was almost certainly the first solicitor to act for a client in both a divorce and dissolution.
Tim has also has a niche practice in acting for the parents of children born in overseas jurisdictions through surrogacy in pursuing their applications in the High Court to obtain Parental Orders to regularise the children’s’ status.
