A guide to business interruption insurance for travel agents, Jonathan Cole writes for TTG

  • Posted

Jonathan Cole’s guide to business interruption insurance has been published in TTG, the leading publication for travel industry professionals.

In his article, UK Travel Agents - A Guide to Business Interruption Insurance, Jonathan covers:

  1. What is business interruption insurance?
  2. How do I know if my business is covered by business interruption insurance?
  3. How do I make a business interruption insurance claim?
  4. Is there any other way of recovering the losses?
  5. What should I do if my insurer rejects my business interruption insurance claim?

The guide follows a landmark ruling in the High Court which recently held that a large number of businesses who hold business interruption insurance policies and who were forced to close as a result of the pandemic are entitled to compensation by their insurers.

There is no doubt that this is a landmark ruling for thousands of businesses who are struggling to survive the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and it is estimated that approximately £1.2 billion policies could be affected by the decision.

Does this landmark case mean that travel businesses are entitled to business interruption insurance compensation?
